Erik D. Burckel - PCS STAR Student

Erik D. Burckel has been named as STAR (Student-Teacher Achievement Recogition) student for the 2007-2008 school year by the Mississippi Economic Council's M. B. Swayze Educational Foundation, sponsor of the STAR program.

Star students are selected on the basis of academic excellence. The STAR program encourages and promotes academic achievement among Mississippi's high school seniors. Each student is asked to designate a classroom teacher who has made the greatest contribution to their scholastic achievement.  Erik has chosen Mrs. Betty Sugg as his STAR teacher.

Erik will be honored during the 18th annual Education Celebration on April 11, 2008 at Mississippi College in Clinton.

We congratulate Erik on his outstanding achievement and wish him God's blessings as he continues his academic career.

PCS Students Named National Merit Finalists!

We are delighted to announce that Claire Patterson and Erik Burckel  have been selected as National Merit Finalists.  Kimber Bryant (former student who is now attending Mississippi State)  is a National Merit Semi-Finalist.

Congratulations to each student for this outstanding achievement!

Of the 1.3 million entrants, approximately 50,000 with the highest PSAT/NMSQT® Selection Index scores (verbal + math + writing skills scores) qualify for recognition in the National Merit® Scholarship Program.

Of this select group, only about 10,500 of the most outstanding American high school students receive scholarships worth a total of $50 million for college undergraduate study.

PCS is extremely proud of Claire, Kimber and Erik and  we wish them God's blessings as they continue their academic careers.
